West sprawls well initially but Melton persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Melton controlling the action here. Melton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down West for as long as he can get away with. Melton is thwarting West's attempts to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Melton working over West with some ground and pound. West looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Melton controlling the action here. Melton passes into side control, despite West's attempt to control the position.

Nice work. Melton looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Melton lands a nice short elbow.#T4# A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Sommer gets back to full guard.
#SUB# Melton drops back looking for a leg! Sommer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sommer manages to kick Melton off! Melton jumps back into Sommer's guard. Melton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. #SUB2# Sommer has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Melton is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Sommer.
