We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Valentino has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Valentino will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Good exchange - Valentino coming out on top. Valentino cracks Andreas with a good jab. Andreas fails with a takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Andreas walks into a jab. Valentino connects with a single shot there. Valentino feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Andreass jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!#T1# Andreas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Valentino tries to avoid it but Andreas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Valentino to the ground. Valentino escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Andreas takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.#TD# Andreas drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Andreas really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill... Valentino has control of Andreas's left arm, preventing Andreas from doing any damage. Valentino keeping moving, preventing Andreas from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Andreas preventing the sweep. Valentino throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Daldo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Valentino looks to score with a jab to the body but Daldo is just out of range. Valentino throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Valentino looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Valentino misses with a two punch combination.
#CL# Daldo forces Valentino back against the cage and clinches. Valentino misses with a short punch on the inside. #TD2# Valentino has clasped his hands together around Daldo's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Valentino with the ground and pound but Daldo regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Valentino uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McGee has time to react. McGee closes this distance looking for a takedown but Valentino circles away. McGee paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
