A telegraphed takedown attempt from Betadyne is defended easily by Peterson.#TD2# Peterson drives through with a takedown into Betadyne's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Peterson stops Betadyne from standing up. Peterson wants to control from the top but Betadyne keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB# Betadyne looking for a guillotine here but Peterson defends easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Peterson scoring with punches to the head and body. Peterson pushes down on Betadyne's leg and manages to get into half guard.#T1# Peterson slips a nice elbow through Betadyne's hands, connecting with Betadyne's forehead. Peterson trying to control from half guard but Betadyne is working away. Peterson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Betadyne with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Betadyne doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Peterson. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Betadyne pulls Mccullough in close to prevent any damage. Betadyne thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Mccullough throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mccullough wants to stand but Betadyne is controlling his posture from full guard. Betadyne avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mccullough working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Betadyne's head. Betadyne seems keen to control Mccullough's posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Betadyne's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.#T1# Betadyne manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mccullough manages to get himself to full guard.
#REVB# Betadyne throwing strikes but missing. Betadyne wants to pass the guard but Mccullough is keeping the position. Mccullough really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Betadyne content to stall in guard here. Mccullough will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Betadyne stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mccullough swivels though and keeps the full guard. Mccullough knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. #R1##TD2# Betadyne decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Hernandez is looking to escape. Betadyne sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hernandez defending well though. Betadyne has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Betadyne is taking a breather. Hernandez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Betadyne throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Betadyne is controlling the pace.
Hernandez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Betadyne on the ground. Oooh, a right straight from Betadyne snaps Hernandez's head back. Hernandez stumbles backwards against the cage. Betadyne steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Hernandez's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Hernandez just didn't come prepared.
