Panda might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hippo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Panda. Panda stands up over Hippo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Panda keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hippo's head. Panda preventing the sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Panda showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Panda missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Panda seems content to control from guard here. Hippo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Panda pinned against the cage. Panda gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Panda appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Panda stuffs the takedown. Full Time Panda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of The Hippo. Hippo tries for a takedown but Panda sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Panda feinted with a counter takedown. Hippo is breathing heavily. The Hippo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Panda has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. #R1##TD2# Hippo gets the takedown into side control. Eric is trying to escape the position but Hippo is controlling the position. Hippo scores with a couple of short elbows. Eric has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Eric takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Eric is letting Hippo control him for a moment. #T1# Let's hope that Hippo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Eric is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hippo asserts his dominance and retains side control.#T2# The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
