Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Nicolaus McTaggart (ranked 5859 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quincy Vein (ranked 5618 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Nicolaus McTaggart! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Quincy Vein! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. McTaggart keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. McTaggart changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. McTaggart shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McTaggart showed some decent athleticism there. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: McTaggart (2) vs (0) Vein McTaggart wants to free his trapped foot but Vein is holding on for dear life with his legs. McTaggart perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McTaggart seems to be looking for submissions.
McTaggart is thwarting Vein's attempts to control the position. McTaggart tries to pass to full mount but Vein defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. McTaggart seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. McTaggart is keen to just control but Vein is a slippery customer. Vein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McTaggart. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. McTaggart looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McTaggart tries to pass to full mount but Vein defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McTaggart is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Vein makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vein. McTaggart drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McTaggart jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. McTaggart passes Vein's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McTaggart trying to control from half guard but Vein is working away. Vein wants to improve his position but McTaggart is controlling well.
McTaggart trying to mount his opponent but Vein defends it. The fighters are battling for position here. Vein manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Vein had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McTaggart defends it easily. Vein keeping full guard, as McTaggart tries to pass.

That's six minutes gone in the round. McTaggart tries to control but Vein wriggling away. McTaggart jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Vein manages to avoid the submission attempt. McTaggart wants to control but Vein is keeping him busy. McTaggart works to advance to full mount. Vein defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Score +2 for reaching mount: McTaggart (7) vs (0) Vein McTaggart looking to control but Vein is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

McTaggart can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vein is looking to escape. Vein defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from McTaggart. Vein is trying to escape the mount.

That's eight minutes gone in the round. McTaggart is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Vein wants to escape the position.
McTaggart looking for the choke from the back. McTaggart looking for the choke but no joy. Vein preventing the rear naked choke attempt from McTaggart.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. McTaggart controlling well, preventing Vein from escaping the position.
Vein trying to control but not successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vein can't escape the position.
Vein just trying to survive but McTaggart is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Vein is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's ten minutes gone in the round. Vein rolls, trying to escape but McTaggart keeps control of the position.
Vein defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of McTaggart's arms. McTaggart is looking to control Vein but Vein is wriggling around and keeping busy. McTaggart looking to break Vein's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Vein remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise McTaggart will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Vein manages to reverse the position and now he's in McTaggart's guard. Nice work there by Vein.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: McTaggart (10) vs (2) Vein The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McTaggart keeping moving, preventing Vein from controlling successfully.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. McTaggart looking to control.
McTaggart has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vein can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. McTaggart working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vein doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vein manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Vein stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McTaggart swivels though and keeps the full guard. McTaggart manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vein manages to get himself to full guard.

That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Vein keeping moving, preventing McTaggart from controlling successfully. Vein is looking for a triangle here but McTaggart uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Score +3 for passing guard: McTaggart (15) vs (2) Vein Vein tries to bench press McTaggart off him but McTaggart keeps the position.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. McTaggart working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. McTaggart wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vein keeps working. Vein wants to control but McTaggart postures up.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. McTaggart staying calm. McTaggart is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vein is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. McTaggart trying to control the position but Vein is working away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! You can see the frustration on Vein's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
