Gomes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hayes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gomes somewhat. Gomes stuffs the takedown attempt from Hayes. Hayes gets slowly back to his feet. #CL2# Gomes clinches with his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gomes tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hayes stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Grundy trying to control the position from guard on top but Hayes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hayes is trying to control the position but Grundy postures up. Hayes seems keen to control Grundy's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hayes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Hayes keeping moving, preventing Grundy from controlling successfully. Grundy throwing strikes but missing. #T1# Grundy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. #TD2# Carrera throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hayes was covering up waiting for the punch and Carrera finishes the takedown easily into guard. Carrera is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hayes has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Mafalda Matos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Matos shoots in for a takedown but Hayes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
