Vrhovec tries for a takedown but McGillicutty circles away easily and McGillicutty counters with a straight right hand. Vrhovec looks for a takedown but McGillicutty sprawls well. McGillicutty is looking to counter punch. John McGillicutty has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gordan Vrhovec. McGillicutty throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Vrhovec throws a sloppy head kick and McGillicutty connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vrhovec shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McGillicutty but McGillicutty pushes him off and we're back to square one. McGillicutty really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Vrhovec looks to land a right hand but McGillicutty moved out of range. It looked like McGillicutty was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Vrhovec throws a big shot that misses. McGillicutty quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Vrhovec has his takedown stuffed and McGillicutty counters with a straight right hand. Vrhovec tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McGillicutty paws at him with a jab and circles away. McGillicutty looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Vrhovec throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McGillicutty's waist but McGillicutty gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vrhovec off to one side. That was a close round but I would say that John McGillicutty will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. A low kick from Vrhovec misses and McGillicutty counters with a perfectly timed head kick, knocking Vrhovec out cold! Wow, that took some serious skill and not a little luck! McGillicutty is taking it in his stride though, strolling around like it's no big deal. What a guy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ray postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Ray stands up over Vrhovec, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Ray is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Vrhovec trying to control the position.
Ray with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Vrhovec really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ray. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ray distracts Vrhovec with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Ray postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Ray scores with a decent looking elbow strike. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vrhovec is on top in guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The referee is keeping an eye on Vrhovec - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stevie Ray. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ray, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
