Pique is trying to break the clinch but Romero is controlling him. Romero is looking to break free of the clinch but Pique has double underhooks. Romero tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Pique avoids it.#BC# Romero breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Romero doesn't succeed with the takedown and Pique counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Pique, right into the meat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#CL2# Pique darts in and clinches Romero up against the cage. He has hold of a leg but Romero is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Pique persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Romero cracks Pique with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Pique from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
#SUB# Pique is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Romero gets his way!

#R1# Pique tries to clinch but Carney moves out of range. Pique fails with the takedown.#CL# Carney darts in and clinches Pique up against the cage. Pique is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Carney to keep the fight standing. Pique tries to pull guard but Carney forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Irving Carney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antoine Pique. Carney lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Pique. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pique tries to score a body lock takedown but Carney shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Pique jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carney walks away with a smile on his face. Pique gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Carney really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.#CL# Carney clinches up against the cage. Pique changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Carney fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Carney has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Carney lands a couple of decent looking shots. Carney is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. #REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Pique stuffs the takedown. Carney misses with a takedown attempt - Pique sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.#T4# A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Pique fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Pique throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Carney's waist but Carney gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pique off to one side. Pique lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carney circles away quickly and effectively. Oh snap! He's tossed Pique clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Carney slows the pace down here.
