A head kick misses from Weddy. #KD2# Weddy cracks Sullivan with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Weddy has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sullivan to stand back up!#ROC2# Sullivan is rocked!#CUT2# It looks like Aleister Sullivan has been cut.#CL# Sullivan has closed the distance and engaged Weddy in a clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sullivan lands a right hand that snaps the head of Weddy backwards. Weddy throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Sullivan blocks it with crossed arms. Sullivan with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Sullivan jumps guard but Weddy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Weddy avoiding damage.

Sullivan pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Weddy tumbling to the mat - Sullivan dives into Weddy's guard. Sullivan stands and throws Weddy's legs to the side, diving into side control. Oh Sullivan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Weddy has cracked Sullivan with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Weddy lands another huge swinging hook and Sullivan tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Sullivan, before Weddy can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Shamal Weddy! Shamal Weddy decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.#CUT2# It looks like Aleister Sullivan has been cut. Sullivan dives in and grabs Thawne's left leg, looking for a takedown. Thawne pushes down on Sullivan's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aleister Sullivan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thawne does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Thawne tries a head kick but it misses.

Mcguire is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Mcguire wants to stand but Sullivan has a closed guard, so he can't escape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sullivan is looking to stand up but Mcguire isn't so interested in that idea. Mcguire controls the pace of the fight for a moment.#T1# Sullivan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mcguire is controlling him.
