We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mongus has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Mongus tries to pull guard but Paaluttaja forces him back to his feet, against the ropes. Paaluttaja scores with a shoulder strike. #CUT# It looks like Hugh Mongus has been cut. Paaluttaja makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Mongus swings away with an uppercut that misses.

#R1# Mongus moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.#CL# Hard clinches. Nice elbow from Hard. Hard looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. A frustrated look appears on Mongus's face as he tries to break the clinch. Mongus tries to pull guard but Hard forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Mongus tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hard smiles and moves away.
#CL2# Mongus moves into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#TD# Hard gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Mongus looking to control.
Hard pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mongus is keeping the position for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB2# Mongus has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. #T1# Hard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mongus swivels though and keeps the full guard. Hard missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Mongus wants to stand and escape but Hard is having none of it. That was a close round but I would say that Hits Hard will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Hugh Mongus's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. #R2##KD# Hard lands a big head kick that sends Mongus tumbling to the mat! Hard takes a step backwards and waves Mongus back to his feet - he wants the finish! Mongus avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mongus steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Hard throws a front kick that sends Mongus stumbling back into the cage. Hard fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Mongus is out of range. Hard looks for the body kick but Mongus saw that one coming. Mongus unleashes a big counter combination but Hard bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Hard is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mongus can do to turn this around? Hard throws a lazy head kick and Mongus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A head kick misses from Hard. Mongus raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.#CL# Hard rushes Mongus and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Mongus is stalling here.

Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hard walks away with a smile on his face. Mongus gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. #CL# Hard moves into the clinch successfully.

Mongus escapes and throws Hard's legs to the side, diving into side control! Hard is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Mongus off and has taken his back!#SUB# Hard looking for the choke but no joy. You can see the frustration on Mongus's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hard wants to control but Mongus postures up. A lull in the action here. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.#T1# Mongus cracks Hard with a big right hand but Hard just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Mongus is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hard's shoulder. That is not cool. Hard is not content to let Mongus control the position. #T3# Mongus gets to mount! Hard was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Mongus in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Mongus has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hard's face.
Mongus takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.#T4# Hard is looking to get to half guard. Hard gets back to half guard.#SUB# Hard looking for submissions off his back. Mongus lands with a punch from half guard.

#R1##CL2# Sith gets in close and instigates a clinch. #BC# Mongus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.#CL2# Sith clinches up with Mongus and pushes him back against the cage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.#TD# Mongus gets control of Sith's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mongus will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Mongus is adopting a defensive guard. Sith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mongus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mongus is on top in guard.

He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Mongus working some strikes from top position. Mongus sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sith's guard. Mongus working Sith over with strikes. Hugh Mongus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mongus sitting and controlling from the half guard. #T2# Mongus slips a nice elbow through Sith's hands, connecting with Sith's forehead. Well, if Mongus is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Williams lands a jab to Mongus's midsection. Mongus defending well as Williams loads up on a big left hand. Williams throws a combination that misses #CL# and Mongus counters into the clinch. Nicely done. #TD2# Williams wants the takedown. Mongus is fighting it off but Williams persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Mongus's guard against the cage. Williams trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Williams postures up.
