The fighters circle momentarily. Gomes darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Gomes cracks Barker with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Gomes throws a leg kick #TD#
and Barker counters with a shoot takedown. Gomes fights it but they end up in guard.
Barker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gomes is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Barker dives into side control.
Gomes tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Barker connects with a big shot to the side of Gomes's head.

Barker has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Gomes is defending well but eventually Barker manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Gomes has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Goncalves lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A jab lands there for Goncalves.
Barker tries to move into range but Goncalves moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Goncalves swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Barker feinted with a counter takedown.
Goncalves lands with an overhand left.
Goncalves works Barker's body with a nice hook.
Felipe Goncalves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Goncalves throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Barker on the side of the head.
Barker tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Goncalves manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Goncalves lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
