Coming up we have a middleweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Ivan Smirnov (ranked 4268 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandre Cassel (ranked 8469 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexandre Cassel is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Ivan Smirnov! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Alexandre Cassel! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Cassel tries to clinch up. Cassel tries to clinch up and Smirnov counters with a shoot takedown. Cassel fights it but they end up in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Smirnov (2) vs (0) Cassel Smirnov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Smirnov has gone for a leg lock! Cassel slips out almost immediately though and dives into Smirnov's guard. Those have got to be taking their toll on Cassel's gas tank. A nice right hand lands inside from Mathews. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Mathews creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. #BC2# Mathews breaks from the clinch.
#CL2# Mathews moves into range and clinches up with Cassel. Mathews scores with an uppercut up the middle. Mathews is leaning against Cassel and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Mathews throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.#BC2# Mathews breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. #CL2# Mathews has closed the distance and engaged Cassel in a clinch.

#KD2# Mathews lands a left and a right that send Cassel crashing to the mat, dazed. Mathews thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!#CL2# Mathews rushes Cassel and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.#BC2# Mathews breaks from the clinch.
Mathews fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Cassel has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.#T2# Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Mathews throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Cassel is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!

#R1##CL2# Carsara has Cassel up against the cage in a clinch.
#TD2# Carsara manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Cassel is fighting to break Carsara's control of his arms but Carsara is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Carsara throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Carsara trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Cassel wants to control from the top but Carsara keeps moving. Carsara seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.#T1# Carsara lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.#REVB# Carsara told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cassel can't keep his opponent in guard - Carsara advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Cassel trying to control from the bottom.
Carsara sitting and controlling from the half guard. #T2# It looks like Carsara might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Cassel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carsara on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carsara is continuing to stall.#REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.#T3# Cassel shoots in for a takedown but Carsara shows good takedown defense. #TD2# Carsara fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cassel to the ground. Carsara is now in Cassel's guard.#SUB# Carsara got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cassel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carsara has managed to get both his arms back between Cassel's legs - danger averted.#SU2# Carsara gets to his feet - Cassel follows without any prompting. #TD2# Carsara closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cassel quickly recovers to half guard. Cassel pushes Carsara off but Carsara dives into side control.
Cassel is breathing heavily. Carsara just content to control the position. #T4##SUB2# Carsara thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. #SU2# Carsara stands up and beckons Cassel to his feet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cassel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cassel misses with a takedown attempt - Carsara sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Carsara throws a fast counter high kick but Cassel manages to duck under it in time. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Cassel misses with a wild combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tommaso Carsara dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. #R2##TD2# Carsara drives through with a takedown into guard. Carsara advances position into side control! Carsara just content to control the position. #SU2# Carsara stands up. #TD2# Carsara shoots in and gets a takedown into Cassel's guard. Cassel is looking to stand back up but Carsara counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Cassel. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#REVR# Carsara with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. #T1# Carsara's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.#SUB2# Carsara seems to be looking for submissions.
Carsara has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. #SUB2# Carsara is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cassel has managed to escape the submission attempt.
#T2# Cassel looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Carsara has good solid back control here. Carsara punches Cassel on the ear. Cassel can't escape the position.
#SUB2# Carsara is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Cassel knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Cassel for a finish. #T3##SUB2# Carsara tightening his grip on Cassel, looking for the choke. Carsara has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Cassel is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Carsara has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Cassel's body.
Cassel can't escape the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.#T4# My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Cassel is covering up but some of the strikes from Carsara are getting through and doing damage.
