We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Van Kalvenhaar shoots for a takedown but Rivers saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.#CL2# Van Kalvenhaar closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Flin Van Kalvenhaar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Van Kalvenhaar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Tomazic performing his best blanket impression for a moment. #T1# Rivers is trying to escape back to his feet but Tomazic uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Yanovich wants to stand up but Rivers is controlling him. Rivers postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Rivers is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Yanovich preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. #ES2# Yanovich is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Rivers presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Yanovich gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. #CUT2# It looks like Rod Rivers has been cut. Yanovich lands an elbow inside. Yanovich stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Rivers can't keep his opponent in guard - Stabel advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Stabel missing with the ground and pound from half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rivers tries to kick Stabel off but Stabel keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Rivers keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Stabel is just content to waste time from the top position. Rivers takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stabel wants to get up but he can't break Rivers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. #T1##ES# Rivers scrambles and gets back to his feet.
