Newman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tonte sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Newman. Tonte feints the counter takedown.#TD# Tonte gets caught flat footed, as Newman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tonte wants to sweep but no luck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tonte keeps trying to improve his position. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Tonte tries to bench press Newman off him but Newman keeps the position. Tonte can't do much from the bottom here. Tonte managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Newman.
Tonte is looking to reverse the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee asks Newman politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Maxon will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.#SUB2# Maxon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Newman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Newman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Maxon is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Newman wants to stand but Maxon has a closed guard, so he can't escape. #SU# Newman stands up from Maxon's guard - Newman perhaps looking for a knockout. Sloppy strikes from Marowadoigowiegow. Those never looked like landing. Marowadoigowiegow is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Newman. Newman tries to clinch up but Marowadoigowiegow circles away and keeps his distance. Newman has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Newman there as he acknowledges the shot. Marowadoigowiegow throws a lazy uppercut
and Newman counters with a nice body shot. Marowadoigowiegow stuffs the takedown.
