Shaffer is defending well against a takedown attempt. Jones Jr has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Shaffer is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Jones Jr fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Burt Shaffer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Jones Jr.#TD# Shaffer has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jones Jr clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Shaffer biding his time, looking for the opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones Jr tries to escape but Shaffer has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Shaffer controlling from the back. Jones Jr wants to escape the position.

#T2# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Shaffer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones Jr for as long as he can get away with.#SUB# Shaffer is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

He's pushed Jones Jr's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Roy Jones Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shaffer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jones Jr.#T1# Jones Jr will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jones Jr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Jones Jr plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Jones Jr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Shaffer misses with a low kick as Jones Jr jumps back. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shaffer is defended easily by Jones Jr. Jones Jr checks the leg kick. Jones Jr scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.#TD# Shaffer scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Jones Jr works his way to full guard. Shaffer is taking a breather. Jones Jr says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Shaffer manages to end up in side control. Jones Jr pushes Shaffer away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Shaffer gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Roy Jones Jr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Shaffer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones Jr can do to turn this around?#SUB# Shaffer tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. #SU# Shaffer decides to stand back up. Shaffer steps back and let's Jones Jr get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Burt Shaffer showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Shaffer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
