#R1# Alberk has his takedown stuffed letting Earl counter with a right hand. #CUT2# It looks like Karl Alberk has been cut.#TD# Alberk scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Earl avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Alberk. Alberk is looking to pass Earl's guard but actually Earl recovers to full guard. Alberk trying to move into half guard but instead Earl has managed to sweep!#REVB# The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Earl accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Earl chips away with some ground and pound. Earl postures up in Alberk's guard and throws a big left but Alberk blocks it. Earl not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Alberk avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Earl connects with a couple of short punches.#T1# Alberk is looking to stand up but Earl isn't so interested in that idea. Alberk looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Earl scoring with some ground and pound. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Earl's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Alberk avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Earl passes Alberk's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Earl thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Alberk's head. Earl not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Earl stalling. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Earl's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.#T2# Earl seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alberk does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Earl is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Alberk blocking the ground and pound attempt from Earl. Alberk on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Alberk tries to get out of the position. Earl thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Alberk's head. Earl has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Earl thows a huge punch but Alberk dodges it nicely.

Alberk tries for a takedown but Earl sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.#CL2# Earl moves into the clinch.#T3##TD2# Earl has picked Alberk up - he's going for a ride! Earl dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.#SUB2# Earl is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
#SUB2# Earl is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Alberk doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Earl. Alberk is staying active underneath Earl, who seems content to just control the action from this position. #T4# Earl looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Earl missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Earl working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Alberk is looking to control Earl's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Alberk avoid being mounted? Alberk taking some punishment here, with Earl in his half guard. Alberk tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Earl is trying to control the action in half guard but Alberk is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Earl is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Earl is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.#SUB2# Earl wants to work for an arm triangle but Alberk is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

John Earl dominated that round. The cut man is working on Karl Alberk's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! #R2# Earl tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alberk paws at him with a jab and circles away. Alberk appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Nice jab there from Earl. #CL2# Earl closes the distance and clinches. Nice body punch from Earl - that landed with a thud.
Earl lands a left hand that snaps the head of Alberk backwards. Alberk is pressed up against the cage. Earl has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Alberk down to the mat. Alberk avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Earl stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Earl wants it to stay on the feet. Earl swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Alberk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Earl but Earl pushes him off and we're back to square one. Alberk misses with a takedown and Earl counters with a stiff right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karl Alberk. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#TD2# Alberk gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Earl to score an easy takedown into full guard. Earl wants to control from the top but Alberk keeps moving. #T1# Earl lands a couple of elbows. Alberk working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Earl. Earl controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Earl is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. #ROC2# Alberk is rocked! Earl looking to control the position here, rather than advance. #T2# A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Earl slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Alberk can't do much from the bottom here. Alberk is not content to let Earl control the position. Earl misses with the ground and pound. Alberk wants to get back to his feet but Earl is dominant here and he's now got Alberk's back!#SUB2# Earl working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Alberk is doing well to defend. Earl seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Alberk is forced to tap and this one is over!
