Elder fails miserably with a takedown attempt.#TD# Elder feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Elder is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Schmidt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Schmidt is looking to stand up but Elder isn't so interested in that idea. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Elder trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Schmidt controls Elder momentarily but Elder frees himself. Our spies down at at Power Wrestling Academy inform us that Schmidt has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? #R1# Dillinger keeps the fight on the outside. Dillinger definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Dillinger moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Dillinger stuffs the takedown. Dillinger stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dillinger wants it to stay on the feet. Elder tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Dillinger comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Jab from Dillinger. Left hook, right uppercut from Dillinger. Dillinger scores with a one two! Elder had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Elder throws a leg kick but Dillinger checks it. Elder fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Nate Dillinger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Elder. The fighters circling - Elder throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Elder shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Alcantara looks to land a combination. Elder sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.#CUT# It looks like Bob Elder has been cut. Alcantara wants to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Elder goes for a double leg but Alcantara avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Alcantara continues to drive forward. Abraham Alcantara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Elder. Alcantara takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Nice shot by Alcantara. Alcantara seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Alcantara misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Elder.
