#R1# The fight stays on the outside here - Hammer looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Reynolds swats away the attempt to clinch by Hammer. Hammer should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.#TD# Reynolds throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hammer was covering up waiting for the punch and Reynolds finishes the takedown easily into guard. Reynolds lands a couple of digs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reynolds working some strikes from top position. Hammer is wriggling around but Reynolds manages to pass to half guard.
Hammer felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Reynolds will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reynolds looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hammer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Reynolds working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. #SUB# Reynolds wants to work for an arm triangle but Hammer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hammer wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

#R1##CL2# Hood tries to keep at a distance but Hammer has taken the fight into the clinch. Hood stalling in the clinch but Hammer improves position. Hammer lands a nice shot to the body. Hammer tries to land a knee to the head but Hood blocks with his arms.
#TD# Hood ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hood no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Hammer wants to stand and escape but instead Hood has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. #REVR# Hood won't allow Hammer to get back to his feet. Hood controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. #SU# Hammer is working an open guard so Hood takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.#TD# Hood scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Hood creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Hammer seems a little lost for a moment, as Hood dominates the positioning. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.#SU# Hood stands up and we're back to a striking position. Hammer leaves Hood with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. #R1##CL2# Hammer closes the distance and pushes Maldonado back into the cage. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Maldonado tries to break the clinch but Hammer is controlling the position. Maldonado manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Maldonado is pushing Hammer up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Maldonado tries to break free but Hammer pushes him back against the cage. Hammer lands with a short punch from the clinch.
#CUT2# It looks like Harrison Maldonado has been cut. Hammer trying to control the position but instead, Maldonado has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hammer into the cage. Hammer stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Maldonado is breathing heavily. Hammer lands a nice uppercut.#ROC2# Maldonado is rocked! Maldonado really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Hammer works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
