#R1# Alvarez shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Alvarez throws a low kick but Rose avoids it. A shot to the body from Alvarez misses and Rose counters with a series of strikes. Alvarez will be more careful next time no doubt. Rose tries a head kick but it misses.
A counter left hand to the body from Alvarez misses its target. Jackson Rose seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rose throws a combination that misses #TD# and Alvarez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rose's guard. Alvarez trying to control but Rose is working from the bottom. Alvarez being controlled here momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rose looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rose keeping moving, preventing Alvarez from controlling successfully. #T1# Rose bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alvarez's guard. #REVB# Rose wants to control from the top but Alvarez keeps moving. Rose postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Rose wants to control from the top but Alvarez keeps moving. Alvarez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rose is fighting to break Alvarez's control of his arms but Alvarez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Alvarez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rose controls the pace.#T2# The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Rose in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Rose sitting in guard here, content to control. #REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Rose throws a chopping leg kick but Alvarez manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Alvarez fails with a takedown attempt.#TD2# Rose fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alvarez sprawls well initially but Rose persists and gets the takedown into half guard. #T3# Alvarez wants to control but Rose is keeping busy and won't allow it. Rose perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Alvarez blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rose. He has the arm isolated but Alvarez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Alvarez is not content to let Rose control the position. #SUB2# Rose thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rose tries to score with some ground and pound. Alvarez controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jackson Rose dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! #R2##TD2# Rose shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Alvarez is trying to defend but Rose finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Alvarez is trying to control but Rose manages to pass to mount!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rose tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. Alvarez tries to hold on but Rose postures up.#T1# Alvarez stops Rose from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Rose is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Rose misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
#SUB2# Rose is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Alvarez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Alvarez shrugs it off. Rose looking to finish with strikes here!

Alvarez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.#SUB2# Rose working for a submission but Alvarez is keeping him at bay. Alvarez is squirming around, avoiding Rose's attempts to control the action. Rose controlling the pace for now. Alvarez tries to hold on but Rose postures up.#T3# Rose controlling from the full mount. Rose breaks from Alvarez's wrist control and lands an elbow. Rose has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Alvarez manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes. #SUB2# Rose has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Alvarez defend it? Rose steps over the head and cranks it - Alvarez is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Rose!
