#R1# Shotaro throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
It looked like Diaz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Kaneda Shotaro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shotaro throws a series of punches but Diaz moves out of range. Diaz tries to counter with a takedown but Shotaro is quick to defend against it. Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shotaro as he jumps to the side. Shotaro misses with a two punch combination.
#TD2# Shotaro closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Diaz quickly recovers to half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Diaz is looking to improve his position.

Diaz has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Diaz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Diaz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. #TD# A momentary lapse in concentration from Shotaro enables Diaz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Still in half guard, Delaney seems content to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shotaro is trying to get back to full guard. Shotaro is looking to control Delaney's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shotaro avoid being mounted?#T1# Delaney wants to stand but Shotaro has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Shotaro is pressing down on Delaney's left leg trying to get back to full guard.
