Santos drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
King jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Santos walks away with a smile on his face. King gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. #CL# King takes the fight into the clinch. Santos prevents a takedown attempt there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#TD2# Santos pulls guard effortlessly. #SUB2# Santos had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. King defends it easily.#T1# King wants to control from the top but Santos keeps moving. Santos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. King preventing the sweep. Santos is pulling down on King's head to control his posture. Santos thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. #T2# A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Santos misses with a wild body shot. Santos shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with King but King pushes him off and we're back to square one. King changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. King changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Santos tries to avoid it but King manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Santos to the ground. Santos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Santos tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but King defends well and Santos ends up having to push King into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.#T4##TD# King closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Santos did well to prevent King getting side control. Santos is trying to maintain the position but King is very close to passing his half guard.#SUB# King is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Lance King dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! #R2# Santos swats away the attempt to clinch by King. Lance King is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. King dives in and grabs Santos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Santos pushes down on King's head and hops out. King shoots in for a takedown but Santos shows good takedown defense. King throws a head kick but Santos moves out of range.

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Los Angeles inform us that Santos has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Santos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. King is really dominating this fight. Santos takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
You can see the frustration on Santos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. King steps back and let's Santos get back to his feet. We've been told by King's head coaches at Cozad MMA Los Angeles that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Santos wants to clinch and King counters with a nice low kick that buckles Santos's knee momentarily.#T4# Santos keeps the fight on the outside. Santos tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. King is trying hard to land a takedown here. Santos sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lance King. That's going to take a lot out of him. Santos shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Santos's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. #CL# King clinches. King scores with an uppercut up the middle. That was a close second round but I would say that Lance King will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time.
