Coming up we have a super heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Tom Tomson (ranked 3307 p4p, 0 weight class) and Archie Davids (ranked 24345 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Tom Tomson! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Archie Davids! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Donatello Bradman and Topper Green.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Davids has a takedown stuffed. Davids fails with the takedown. Tomson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tomson tries to counter by clinching up but Davids breaks away and moves out of range. Davids tries to clinch but Tomson is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davids closes the distance and clinches. Davids jumps guard but Tomson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Tom Tomson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Archie Davids. Davids has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Tomson after a bit of a struggle. I was talking to Tomson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Davids tries to pull guard but Tomson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davids has Tomson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Tomson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Davids jumps guard and drags Tomson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Tomson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Davids is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davids is trying to get back to half guard. Tomson is staying tight to Davids's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Davids looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Davids reaches up to try and control the position but Tomson seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Davids rolls and tries to escape and now Tomson has his back!

That's five minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Davids's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Tomson continues to stall. Tomson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Davids just trying to survive but Tomson is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Tomson really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Davids.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

#R1# Davids with a poor takedown and Pritcharf counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Pritcharf takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Davids gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily #TD2# and Pritcharf counters with a nice double leg into guard. Davids wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Pritcharf manages to pass to side control. #REVR# Pritcharf seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pritcharf working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Davids is looking to escape. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pritcharf in particular looking to stall.#T1# Davids is trying to maintain the position but Pritcharf is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pritcharf looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. It looks like Pritcharf might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.#SUB2# Pritcharf is looking for a kimura but Davids is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pritcharf to get the leverage. Davids knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pritcharf on the ground. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pritcharf in particular looking to stall. Pritcharf is continuing to stall.#T2# A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Pritcharf is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. #SUB2# Pritcharf seems to be looking for submissions.

Davids definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.#T3##SUB2# The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Davids is defending against the submission attempts here by Pritcharf.

You can see the frustration on Davids's face as Pritcharf controls the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bretton Pritcharf dominated that round. That's time! Davids's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. #R2# Davids shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Pritcharf tries a quick counter leg kick but Davids is wise to it. A combination from Pritcharf does no damage. Davids darts in looking for a takedown but Pritcharf gets double underhooks and turns Davids into the cage. Pritcharf tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Davids closes the distance and clinches up with Pritcharf, looking for a takedown. Davids pushes Pritcharf against the cage but Pritcharf circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Archie Davids. That's going to take a lot out of him. Davids tries to clinch up but Pritcharf circles away and keeps his distance. Pritcharf throws a sloppy head kick and Davids moves out of range easily. Pritcharf shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Davids as he avoids it easily. Davids fails with the takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davids tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pritcharf swivels and escapes.#TD2# Pritcharf shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Davids is trying to defend but Pritcharf finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Pritcharf is taking a breather. Davids says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.#T1# Davids is looking to improve his position.

#R1# A low kick from Davids is predictable there #TD# and Pritcharf counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Davids really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pritcharf. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Still in half guard, Pritcharf seems content to control. Pritcharf trying to pass the guard but Davids defending well. Pritcharf will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Pritcharf with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Davids trying to control from the bottom.
Davids tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Pritcharf has advanced to mount. Uh oh. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
