#R1# Placeholder looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Placeholder with a lazy takedown attempt #TD# and Soprano counters with a single leg into guard. Placeholder didn't expect that. Soprano's corner is telling him to maintain position. Soprano passes easily into side control. Nice work. Soprano trying to control the action but Placeholder is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Placeholder is trying to escape the position but Soprano is controlling the position. Soprano throwing strikes but missing, from side control. #T1# Placeholder looking for a sweep but Soprano has passed into full mount! Oh no! Soprano sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. #SUB# Soprano is working for a guillotine from mount but Placeholder frees his head quite easily.
#SUB# Soprano working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Placeholder looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Soprano! Submission of the night perhaps?
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Eddy Soprano! After the fight, Eddy Soprano was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
