Winn waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Assis. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Assis to the canvas! Can he finish him!? #CUT#
It looks like David Assis has been cut.
Assis looking for a sweep. Not yet Assis, not yet.
Assis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment. #SUB2#
Assis looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Winn passes into side control.
Winn is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Assis tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Winn presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! #T1#
Assis flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Winn controlling the position easily from mount.
Assis is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Winn controlling his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T2#
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Assis working to try and regain half guard.
Winn controlling his opponent.
Assis tries to lock up and control but Winn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.#T3#
Winn controlling the pace for now.
Winn's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Assis wants to control but Winn is having none of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Winn has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Assis wants to get back to his feet.
Assis is trying desperately to improve position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Winn looking to control and managing it successfully.

and Winn counters with a shoot takedown. Assis fights it but they end up in guard.

Winn is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Assis is trying to hold Winn in close to prevent damage but Winn has managed to pass into half guard.
Assis is trying to control but can't.
Winn perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#REF3#
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Assis wants to clinch
letting Winn counter with a right hand.
Winn swats away the attempt to clinch by Assis.
A little feinted left hand from Winn on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.#T2#
Assis tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Winn counters with a stiff right hand.

Assis is breathing heavily.
Still in half guard, Winn seems content to control.
Assis is still in real trouble! Can Winn finish him?
Assis trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Assis seems to have recovered his senses.
Winn avoids the attempt from Assis to control.
Winn takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Assis is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Winn sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Winn.

Assis tries to hold on but Winn postures up.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Assis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Winn swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Winn drops down looking for a counter takedown but Assis sprawls and moves away.#TD#
Assis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Winn to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Assis controls Winn momentarily but Winn frees himself.
Winn passes Assis's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Winn takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Assis pushes Winn off looking to stand but Winn dives back in and keeps control.
Winn slows the pace down in half guard. #T1#
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Assis wants to control but Winn is keeping busy. #REF3#
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Winn is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Assis can do to turn this around?
Assis thows a leg kick but Winn checks it
and Winn rattles Assis with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Assis tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Winn dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Assis stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jerome Winn!
A very excited looking Jerome Winn made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.

Merrill leaves Assis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Merrill fires out a quick counter leg kick but Assis just manages to avoid it.
Assis stuffs the takedown attempt from Merrill. Merrill gets slowly back to his feet.
Assis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Merrill shoots for a double leg takedown but Assis sprawls well. He's pushed Merrill's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Assis is looking for the big counter here.
Assis tries to clinch but Merrill moves out of range.
Merrill circles away from the clinch attempt.
Assis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Grant Merrill has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Assis.

Assis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Merrill walks away with a smile on his face. Assis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Assis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Merrill as he avoids it easily.
Assis tries to close the distance and clinch but Merrill swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Merrill shoots in and drives through. Assis sprawls well.
Merrill avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Merrill stuffs the takedown attempt from Assis. Assis gets slowly back to his feet.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Merrill accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. #SUB2#

Merrill darts in and clinches Assis up against the cage.

Merrill blocks a couple of punches on the inside. #T4#
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Assis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it. #BC#
Merrill breaks from the clinch.
Assis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Merrill. #CL2#
Assis has managed to clinch.
Merrill wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Assis has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Merrill off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Merrill throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Assis's waist but Assis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Merrill off to one side.
David Assis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Assis misses with a takedown attempt
and Merrill counters with a low kick, right behind Assis 's knee.
Assis is breathing heavily.
Assis gets in close and tags Merrill with a short punch that almost sends Merrill to the mat! Oh Merrill is in big trouble! He turns his back on Assis, trying to create some distance but Assis rushes him, striking wildly and Merrill goes down! The referee tackles Assis into the cage to end the fight! Assis is one violent man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). David Assis!
