Marino looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Askren's corner is telling him to maintain position. Askren trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Askren slips nicely into half guard. Marino really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Askren. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#SUB# Askren is working for a kimura but Marino is defending it quite comfortably.

Kirov's coaches at Star Studded Beef have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.#SUB# Kirov actively working from the bottom here.#SUB# Kirov looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Askren tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kirov. #R1# Askren with a poor takedown and Kong counters with a slapping leg kick. Askren dives in and grabs Kong's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kong pushes down on Askren's head and hops out. Kong bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Askren has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Kong. Askren looks winded! Kong lands a front kick.#KD# Kong lands a big head kick that sends Askren tumbling to the mat! Kong takes a step backwards and waves Askren back to his feet - he wants the finish!#ROC# Askren is rocked!#CUT# It looks like Jett Askren has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kong fakes the body blow, causing Askren to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Askren goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

#R1# Askren shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Askren moves away. Smith leaves Askren with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Askren shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily. Kyle Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jett Askren. Smith throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Askren appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Nice sprawl there from Smith as Askren shoots in. Smith seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Askren shoots for a double leg takedown but Smith sprawls well. He's pushed Askren's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. #TD# Smith shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Smith was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Smith wants to control but Askren is keeping him busy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Askren tries to improve position but can't. A bit of a lull in the action.
