A chopping leg kick lands by Taktarov. Taktarov on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Taktarov is breathing heavily. Taktarov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Fernandez wants to clinch. Fernandez keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Oh Taktarov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Fernandez tries to close the distance and clinch but Taktarov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Taktarov is looking to counter with head kicks. Taktarov seems to have got his legs back now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fight stays on the outside here - Fernandez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Taktarov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fernandez to keep the fight standing. Fernandez putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Taktarov in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Fernandez is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Kneeeeees! #R1# Fernandez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Taktarov swats him away and circles back towards the center. #CL# Taktarov clinches. Taktarov lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Fernandez backwards. Fernandez missing with knees to the body.

Fernandez tries to throw a body punch but Taktarov avoids it by throwing Fernandez back against the cage. A nice right hand lands inside from Fernandez. Taktarov doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Taktarov takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fernandez landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Taktarov prevents Fernandez from getting back to his feet. Taktarov is working Fernandez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Fernandez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Taktarov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#T1# Taktarov content to stall in guard here. Taktarov fails with the takedown and Fernandez makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Fernandez with a nice cross. Taktarov darts in looking for a takedown but Fernandez gets double underhooks and turns Taktarov into the cage. Fernandez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Taktarov looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Taktarov is breathing heavily. The fight stays on the outside here - Fernandez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Taktarov could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.#T3# Fernandez stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Moleg Taktarov. That's going to take a lot out of him.#CL2# Fernandez closes the distance and pushes Taktarov back into the cage. Taktarov is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet! #ROC2# Taktarov is rocked! Fernandez is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Fernandez tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Shaw biding his time, controlling Fernandez. Fernandez is trying to remain composed but Shaw is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.#T2##SUB# Shaw working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Fernandez is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Shaw has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Fernandez taps out!

After the fight, Deshawn Shaw was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
