We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Merrill fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Yokoi avoids it really well and circles away.
Merrill tries to score a power double leg takedown but Yokoi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Merrill somewhat.
Yokoi is looking for the big counter here.#T1#
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Merrill is defended easily by Yokoi.
Yokoi is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Akumi Yokoi opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
