The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Villon trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Villon has control of Grimes's left arm, preventing Grimes from doing any damage. #SUB2# Villon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Grimes defends it easily. Villon pulls Grimes in to control the position. #SUB# Grimes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Grimes really is a fat lump. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB2# Villon looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Villon looking for a sweep. Not yet Villon, not yet. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.#T1# Villon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.#REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.#CL2# Villon clinches up with Grimes and pushes him back against the cage.#BC2# Villon breaks the clinch.
#TD2# Villon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Grimes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Villon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Grimes tries to improve position but can't. Grimes is being controlled here. It looks like Villon might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.#SU2# Villon stands up. #T2##CL2# Villon moves into range and clinches up with Grimes. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.#TD2# Villon turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grimes struggling a bit here. Villon taking a breather here. #SUB2# Villon tries for a kimura but Grimes is defending well. #T3# Grimes is trying to work for a sweep but Villon has mounted him! Grimes regains half guard.#SUB2# Villon is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Grimes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Villon trying to control the position from guard on top but Grimes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. #T4# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Villon throws a strike but Grimes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. #REVR# Villon tries to land a sweep but no joy. Villon is trying to keep Grimes in close.
Grimes wants to control from the top but Villon keeps moving. #SUB2# Villon has his foot on Grimes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Grimes works his way back into a safe position though. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Grimes with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Grimes cracks Villon with a solid left hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grimes thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Villon trying to control the position from guard on top but Grimes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Villon. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Villon preventing the sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grimes keeping full guard, as Villon tries to pass. Grimes working a defensive guard here.
Grimes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Grimes tries to strike from the bottom.
#T1# Villon trying to control but Grimes is working from the bottom. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Villon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. #REF3# The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.#TD2# Villon closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Grimes's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Villon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Villon passes Grimes's left leg - he's now in half guard. Villon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#SUB# Grimes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Villon pulls his head out easily. Villon is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Grimes gets back to half guard.#T2# Grimes wants to get back to full guard. Villon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Villon is taking a breather. Grimes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Grimes is trying to maintain the position but Villon is very close to passing his half guard. Villon thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Grimes is not content to let Villon control the position.#SUB2# Villon is trying to work for a kimura but Grimes is defending well.
#T3# Villon looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Villon is continuing to stall. Villon wants to stand up but Grimes is controlling the position.
John Villon has got the better of the ground game so far. Grimes is looking to control Villon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Grimes avoid being mounted?#REF3# The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.#CL2# Villon moves into range and clinches up with Grimes.#TD2# Villon tightens his grip and picks Grimes up, before dumping him to the ground. Grimes manages to land in guard. #T4##SUB# Grimes pushes a forearm under Villon's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Villon is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
