Boyd circles away from the clinch attempt
and Boyd counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Davenport badly! Boyd follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Davenport out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Boyd finished him against the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). John Boyd!
In his post fight interview, John Boyd started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Boyd shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Rogers eats them both and turns towards Boyd to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.#CUT2#
It looks like Wayne Rogers has been cut.
Boyd lands a big head kick that sends Rogers to the canvas! Boyd follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

John Boyd bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.

Meyer avoids the head kick by Boyd.
Meyer quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Boyd throws a leg kick but Meyer sees it coming and moves out of range.
As Boyd looks to move away, Meyer throws a big counter combo but Boyd just gets out of the way.
Boyd throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Boyd throws a wild body kick that Meyer sees coming a mile off.
Meyer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Boyd is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Boyd has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Meyer is landing a low percentage of strikes.

and Boyd counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Boyd and Meyer are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Boyd throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Meyer into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Boyd knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

A very excited looking John Boyd rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.

Burks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Boyd with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Boyd really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Soriano is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Boyd is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Boyd flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Soriano anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Boyd and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Soriano slips an arm under Boyd chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Soriano has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Soriano is squeezing on Boyd like an anaconda would it's prey. Boyd fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

It looks like John Boyd has been cut.
Boyd rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bol counters with a huge left! Boyd is in big trouble! He's backing up but Bol isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Boyd from any more damage. A dominating finish by Bol!

No joy there for Boyd, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Hands counters with a crisp right that sends Boyd to the canvas! Hands follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
