We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Al Boleahi working away. Al Boleahi working the strikes but Castro uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Nice strikes from Al Boleahi there. Al Boleahi drops an elbow to the side of Castro's head. Al Boleahi scores with a big shot! Castro's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Castro! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Omar Al Boleahi! Omar Al Boleahi is the new lightweight champion! Joe Castro was interviewed post fight and said 'I'm gonna shake this off and get back to winning.'.

#R1##TD# Castro drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Castro throws a big right hand that misses. Castro wants to control from the top but Da Silva keeps moving. Da Silva not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Castro looking to pass the guard. Castro trying to control but Da Silva is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Castro is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Da Silva is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Castro throwing strikes from guard but Da Silva blocks nicely. Da Silva wants to stand and escape but Castro is having none of it. #REF3# The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. That was a close round but I would say that Joe Castro will probably get the nod. Lamprey just leaning against Castro, taking a breather. Lamprey can't find room to land a body shot as Castro controls the action.
Castro is trying to drag Lamprey to the mat but Lamprey just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Castro wants a takedown but no success here.
