#R1##TD2# Zane fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Diaz to the ground. Zane is now in Diaz's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zane sitting in guard, not really doing much. Diaz tries to land a sweep but no joy. Diaz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Diaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Zane pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Diaz is keeping the position for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz is trying to keep Zane in close.
Zane controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. #T1# Zane tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard. #REF3# The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.#TD# Diaz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zane's guard. Zane being controlled here, momentarily. #ES2# Zane kicks Diaz off and gets to his feet. #TD# Excellent takedown into side control there by Diaz. Diaz throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Zane is trying to control Diaz's posture but Diaz avoids it. Diaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zane keeps working. #T2# Zane manages to work his way to half guard, despite Diaz's best efforts. Zane is trying to stand back up but Diaz is controlling him
#SUB2# Zane actively working from the bottom here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Zane is looking to control Diaz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Zane avoid being mounted? Zane makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Zane. Zane keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully. Diaz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zane on the ground. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zane swivels though and keeps the full guard. #T3# Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Zane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Zane bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Diaz's guard. #REVB# Zane wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position. Zane advances position into side control! Zane prevents Diaz from escaping the position. Diaz is looking to reverse the position. Diaz gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. #T4# The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Zane connects with a nice short shot to Diaz's temple. Zane throwing shots but Diaz is blocking nicely. Zane perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Zane seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diaz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Zane sitting and controlling from the half guard. Diaz wants to get back to full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Diaz trying to control but Zane postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sai Zane dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! #R2##TD2# Zane closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Zane fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Zane controlling from mount. Diaz working to try and regain half guard.
Diaz wants to hold on but Zane pushes him away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee warns Diaz that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Diaz keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
#T1# Zane looking to control and managing it successfully. Zane landing strikes, looking to finish! Zane manages to capitalize on a mistake by Diaz to take his back!#SUB2# Zane is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Diaz with him. Diaz is trying to defend but Zane has an arm under the chin now! Diaz grimaces and is forced to tap out!
