Coming up we have a super heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Jack Frinch (ranked 6244 p4p, 458 weight class) and Fletch Brandis (ranked 2341 p4p, 245 weight class). Brandis comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lynyrd Skynyrd : The Ballad of Curtis Loew kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Frinch drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Brandis manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Frinch has Brandis in his guard.

Brandis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

My spies in Lads Lash Banter Gym inform me that Brandis has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Frinch is looking to control Brandis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Frinch avoid being mounted?

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brandis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Frinch, who protects the arm well.
Brandis is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Frinch will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Frinch manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Brandis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Frinch is just riding it out for now. Brandis eventually gives up the hold.

Frinch is staying active underneath Brandis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Frinch is trying to maintain the position but Brandis is very close to passing his half guard.
Brandis wants to control but Frinch is keeping him busy.

Brandis is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Frinch sees it coming and defends easily.
Frinch tries to roll over but Brandis keeps him under control.

Brandis is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Brandis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Frinch is looking to escape.

Brandis moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Frinch has worked his arm free - good work by Frinch!

Brandis works to advance to full mount. Frinch defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Brandis fails to take his opponent's back.

Brandis jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Frinch manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Brandis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Frinch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Brandis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Frinch, who protects the arm well.

Frinch is trying to escape the position but Brandis is controlling the position.

Brandis is working to tighten his grip on Frinch's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Frinch has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Brandis is really squeezing tight and eventually Frinch passes out! Brandis breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

During a confident post fight interview, Fletch Brandis thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.

Sydney defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Frinch.
Jack Frinch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sydney scores with a sloppy right hand. Frinch should have avoided that one. #CUT2#
It looks like Jack Frinch has been cut.
Frinch throws a leg kick but Sydney moved away.
Sydney connects with a nice looking jab.
Sydney misses with a hook. Frinch ducked under it nicely.
Sydney looks to land a left hand but Frinch moved out of range nicely.
Frinch tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sydney sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Frinch somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frinch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Sydney counters with a lovely shot to the body.
