Thompson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Thompson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Slater. #CL# Slater clinches up with Thompson and pushes him back against the cage. Thompson misses with a shot to the kidneys.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A battle for position here, against the cage.#TD# Slater jumps guard and drags Thompson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Slater has control of Thompson's left arm, preventing Thompson from doing any damage. Thompson trying to control the position from guard on top but Slater is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. #T1##SUB# Slater throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Thompson throws a big right hand that misses. Thompson is looking to work some ground and pound but Slater has wrist control. Thompson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Slater working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Thompson. Thompson wants to control from the top but Slater keeps moving. #REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Thompson throws a shot from downtown. Slater moves away and avoids it. Slater shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thompson but Thompson pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Slater. That's going to take a lot out of him.#T2# There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Slater looks for a takedown but Thompson sprawls well. Thompson tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Matthew Slater seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#T4# Slater shoots and misses and Thompson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Slater is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Thompson is looking for the big counter here. Thompson's jab looks to have found its range, popping Slater under the eye. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Thompson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Jay Thompson dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! #R2# Thompson clobbers Slater with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Thompson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Slater circles away quickly and effectively. Slater drops down looking for a counter takedown but Thompson sprawls and moves away. Nice uppercut lands for Thompson. That snapped Slater's head back.

Thompson tries to counter by closing the distance. Slater fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thompson avoids it really well and circles away. Thompson is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Slater has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Thompson finds it's way round the side to connect with Slater's head. This has been an exciting period of action! Slater tries to clinch but Thompson moves out of range. Slater will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Thompson!
Slater shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. #T3# Thompson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Thompson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Thompson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Thompson sizes up Slater with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Slater tries to close the distance and clinch but Thompson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Good shot there by Thompson. Slater slips under a jab. Thompson cracks Slater with a good jab. Thompson throws a right and a left that Slater avoids nicely. Thompson scores to the head and body with a nice combination! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A slow jab from Thompson misses its intended target. #T4# Thompson scores with a jab. Slater acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Slater shoots in looking for a takedown. Thompson tries to sprawl out of it but Slater keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thompson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Slater tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Jay Thompson seems to be getting the better of the standup. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Slater is defended easily by Thompson. Thompson feints the counter takedown. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. No luck with that takedown attempt from Slater. Thompson is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Slater looks to throw the jab but Thompson is out of range. Thompson looks like he wants to counter punch here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Thompson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round! #R3# A punch lands to the side of Slater 's head but he takes it in his stride. Thompson misses with the combination.

Slater changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thompson tries to avoid it but Slater manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thompson to the ground. Slater has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Slater there as he acknowledges the shot. Slater throws a series of punches but Thompson avoids them all with ease. Slater blocks a jab. Slater drops down looking for a counter takedown but Thompson sprawls and moves away. Thompson circles away from the clinch attempt.
#T2# Thompson stalks Slater and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Slater's face. Slater staggers backwards, shaken. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Thompson lands with a straight right. Slater didn't see that one coming. Slater scores with a shot to the body.

Slater avoids it this time. Decent striking displayed by Thompson there. Slater shoots in looking for a takedown but Thompson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Slater's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Thompson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.#T3# Thompson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Thompson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Thompson scores with a one two! Slater had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Thompson listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.#T4# Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nice cross by Thompson. A left and a right from Thompson both land. Nice combination. Thompson with a jab. Thompson connects with a single shot there. Slater walks into a jab. Thompson cracks Slater with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Slater closes the distance and clinches up with Thompson, looking for a takedown. Slater pushes Thompson against the cage but Thompson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Slater swinging wildly here.

And that's the end of the fight! Jay Thompson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Thompson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
