McCarthy tries to bum rush Oneill with a series of wild strikes but Oneill uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by McCarthy!
McCarthy looks to land a left hand but Oneill moved out of range nicely. Oneill looks for a takedown but McCarthy sprawls well. A lazy left from McCarthy finds it's target. McCarthy lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Horrible takedown attempt by Oneill or perhaps it was just good defense by McCarthy, which made it look bad. McCarthy scores with a jab to the jaw. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McCarthy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Oneill sees it coming and avoids it easily. James McCarthy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#T1# Oneill with a poor takedown and McCarthy counters with a straight right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lanny Oneill. That's going to take a lot out of him. McCarthy closes the distance and lands a one-two. McCarthy works over Oneill's head and body with a nice combination. McCarthy lands a nice shot to the body.
Oneill connects with a body shot. McCarthy waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Oneill. McCarthy lands with an uppercut that bounces Oneill off the cage and back into range. Oneill wants to clinch and McCarthy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McCarthy ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Oneill really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Oneill appears to be looking for a counter takedown. McCarthy connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Oneill blocks a jab. McCarthy listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. McCarthy misses with a straight right. Oneill throws a quick counter head kick but McCarthy was just out of range. Oneill tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McCarthy paws at him with a jab and circles away. McCarthy connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.#T3# Oneill shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and McCarthy counters with a stiff right hand. McCarthy is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Oneill had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Oneill wants to clinch. McCarthy throws a good cross that connects.
#TD# Oneill shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McCarthy napping and manages to drive through into side control! McCarthy is not content to let Oneill control the position. #T4# McCarthy is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Oneill has just dragged him back down to the mat. McCarthy avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Oneill. McCarthy pushes Oneill away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Oneill gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Oneill connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused McCarthy some visible discomfort.

Oneill has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Oneill is looking to take a break and control but McCarthy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McCarthy is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Oneill has just dragged him back down to the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Oneill shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McCarthy sprawls well. McCarthy fails to land with a series of punches.

Oneill looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. McCarthy misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Oneill.

McCarthy lands with an overhand left. Oneill throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McCarthy stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. A combination from McCarthy does no damage. Oneill was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. McCarthy has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Oneill shoots for a takedown but McCarthy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. McCarthy lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Oneill misses with a hook. James McCarthy seems to be getting the better of the standup. This has been an exciting period of action! A combination from McCarthy does no damage. McCarthy thows a left - swing and a miss! McCarthy digs a good body shot into Oneill's ribs. McCarthy scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Oneill doesn't seem bothered though. McCarthy swinging wildly here.

It looked like Oneill wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. McCarthy throws a right and a left that Oneill avoids nicely. A big right from McCarthy misses. McCarthy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

McCarthy goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. McCarthy is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Good shot there by McCarthy. Oneill takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

James McCarthy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! McCarthy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. McCarthy wants to get back to his feet.

#REF3# The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.#T2# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. McCarthy misses with an uppercut. McCarthy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Oneill. It looked like Oneill was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from McCarthy. A jab from McCarthy misses. McCarthy digs a good hook to Oneill's body.
James McCarthy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. McCarthy scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. McCarthy pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Oneill back to the cage. McCarthy follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. McCarthy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. McCarthy changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. McCarthy scores with a hook. McCarthy rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Oneill moves out of range and avoids them all easily. McCarthy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Lanny Oneill has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Oneill swings widly with a right hand
and McCarthy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that's the end of the fight! James McCarthy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got McCarthy winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

#R1# King is looking to clinch. Oneill was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.#TD2# Oneill gets caught flat footed, as King shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.#SUB# Oneill is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. #SUB# Oneill looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Oneill looking for a sweep. Not yet Oneill, not yet. King tries to free his leg and advance position but Oneill is retaining full guard. #SUB# King content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Oneill has locked up a guillotine! Oneill's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? King is holding on here and Oneill must be using up a lot of energy. King has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Oneill gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
