Petersen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.#ES# Byrd has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Petersen is on him like a limpet, forcing Byrd back against the cage. Petersen takes a shot to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Petersen keeps control of Byrd as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. #TD2# Petersen lands a takedown into guard.
Petersen wants to pass the guard but Byrd is keeping the position. Byrd is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Petersen is controlling him. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Kneehunter controlling the action here. Kneehunter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Petersen's head. Petersen avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kneehunter. Petersen is refusing to be controlled, as Kneehunter sits in half guard. #T1# Kneehunter is thwarting Petersen's attempts to control the position. Petersen wants to sweep but Kneehunter has passed to side control! Kneehunter creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Petersen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Kneehunter gets to mount! Petersen was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Kneehunter connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Kneehunter prevents Petersen from getting the reversal.#T2# Petersen is still trying to improve position. Petersen tries to control the position but Kneehunter now has his back.

Kneehunter lands a shot to the body. You can see the frustration on Petersen's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Kneehunter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. Petersen is doing well to defend. Kneehunter seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Petersen is forced to tap and this one is over!
