Lee had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Shields Jr throws a series of punches but Lee avoids them all with ease. Shields Jr scores with a punch to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lee fails to land the takedown. Shields Jr is looking for a counter combo. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. It looks like Shields Jr has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Shields Jr paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Lee shoots in for a takedown but Shields Jr shows good takedown defense. Lee is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. #ROC# Lee is rocked! Shields Jr stalks Lee and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lee's face. Lee staggers backwards, shaken. Lee is still on wobbly legs! Can Shields Jr finish him? Lee shoots and misses and Shields Jr counters with a left and a right... And another left! Lee is down! He's done! The ref dives in to save him and that's the end of the fight!

Jason Shields Jr decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

Lee changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Purcell fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Purcell scores with a jab to the body. Lee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Purcell counters with a body kick. Lee staying out of range there. Lee doesn't succeed with the takedown and Purcell counters with a head kick. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kevin Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him. Purcell cracks the inside of Lee's front leg. Lee definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Purcell throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lee on the side of the head. #CL2# Purcell rushes Lee and presses him up against the cage. Purcell stacks Lee on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Purcell! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. It looks like he might have it! Lee tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Purcell cranks the arm and Lee screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Lee, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
