#R1# Abbott with a lazy takedown attempt and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. No joy there for Ruiz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ruiz!
Ruiz lands a jab-cross combination. Ruiz misses with a few strikes there.
Ruiz throws a series of punches but Abbott avoids them all with ease. Ruiz fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Ruiz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ruiz lands a nice looking body shot.
Ruiz throws a right and a left that both miss. Ruiz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
#TD# Abbott gets the takedown into side control. #T1# Abbott landing a few strikes. Abbott in side control, throwing shots but Ruiz defends. Ruiz is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Ruiz takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Abbott has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ruiz is trying to get back to his feet. Abbott looks up at the clock and then as Ruiz takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Abbott smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Ruiz is not content to let Abbott control the position. Ruiz wants to get back to his feet. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. #T2# Abbott lands a strong strike to the head of Ruiz. That's dazed him! Abbott looking to finish here. Ruiz is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Abbott lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
