#R1# MacLeod throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
MacLeod throws a right and a left that Vugla avoids nicely. Despite the aggression on Vugla's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. A combination from Vugla does no damage. MacLeod tries to bum rush Vugla with a series of wild strikes but Vugla uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Vugla is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. MacLeod stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and MacLeod wants it to stay on the feet. Vugla dives in for a single leg takedown but MacLeod sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Vugla moves away from the strike by MacLeod. MacLeod pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Vugla shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says MacLeod as he avoids it easily. Connor MacLeod has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Herkul Vugla. Vugla uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from MacLeod. MacLeod slaps away a takedown attempt from Vugla, before circling back to the center of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vugla slips under a jab from MacLeod. Vugla fails with the takedown. MacLeod closes the distance and lands a one-two.#CUT# It looks like Herkul Vugla has been cut.#T1# Vugla is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and MacLeod moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Connor MacLeod! Connor MacLeod was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
