#R1# Betts fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Betts shoots for a takedown but De Merde saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from De Merde. De Merde misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Betts.

Betts pivots, looking for a leg kick but De Merde is out of range and Betts settles back down. #TD2# De Merde drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.#ES# Betts kicks De Merde off and gets to his feet. Betts slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Betts tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Betts will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.#SUB# Betts tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Betts shoots for a double leg takedown but De Merde sprawls well. He's pushed Betts's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. De Merde tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. No luck with that takedown attempt from De Merde. Betts tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but De Merde defends well and Betts ends up having to push De Merde into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. De Merde is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Betts tries to clinch but De Merde moves out of range. De Merde is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Betts with a body shot. De Merde is trying hard to land a takedown here. Betts sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Bradley Betts is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Betts working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
