Dave Spencer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Spencer cracks a nice hook into Woods's ribs. Nice shot by Spencer. Spencer scores with a body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Spencer ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. A looping hook to the body misses from Spencer. Woods does a little dance to reset his feet. Woods changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Woods showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Spencer.

#R1# Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling eachother endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive. A jab from Cares finds it's way through Woods's defenses. Cares connects with a body shot that sends Woods's belly button to the back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cares throws a lazy right hand but Woods sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Woods looks like he wants to counter punch here. Cares loads up on a big right hand but Woods slips the punch.#T1##TD2# A momentary lapse in concentration from Cares enables Woods to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cares manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Woods working some strikes from top position. Woods preventing the sweep. Woods throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cares works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Woods with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Woods is pushing down on Cares's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cares is fighting to maintain full guard but Woods has managed to sneak the leg through. Cares knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Woods on the ground. Woods thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cares's head. Woods postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Cares on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Cares doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

That could mean trouble for Steve! Woods working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Woods is chipping away with strikes.
