This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Justin Mathew! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Wagdy Hustler!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Hustler keeps the fight on the outside.
Mathew misses with a takedown attempt - Hustler sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mathew shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hustler defends it nicely.
Mathew shoots in for a takedown but Hustler shows good takedown defense.
Hustler with the counter takedown but Mathew avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin Mathew. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mathew shoots in looking for a takedown but Hustler manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mathew's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And Hustler tries to counter it with a takedown but Mathew pushes his down on his head and steps out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mathew is defended easily by Hustler.

Mathew shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hustler pinned against the ropes. Hustler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mathew moves in looking to clinch but Hustler pushes him off.
Hustler tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Hustler gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mathew to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Mathew stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hustler swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mathew is sitting in close to Hustler's body. Hustler has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Mathew is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Mathew is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Hustler.

Gordon circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gordon attempts a counter takedown but Mathew avoids it well and moves away.
Justin Mathew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gordon rushes Mathew and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Mathew is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Mathew sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Mathew won't allow Gordon to pass to mount.

Mathew is trying to get back to full guard.

Gordon is looking for a kimura but Mathew is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gordon to get the leverage.
Gordon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Gordon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mathew for as long as he can get away with.

Gordon seems to be working for a kimura but Mathew defends the submission attempt.
Mathew is trying to control but can't.

Mathew is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Gordon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gordon moves to his opponent's back but Mathew bucks him off and ends up in guard. A bit of a disaster there for Gordon.

Mathew is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mathew is trying to escape the mount but Gordon keeps good control and instead manages to take Mathew's back.

Nguyen manages to break the clinch.
Mathew's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Nguyen connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mathew scrambles back to his feet.
Mathew seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Nguyen shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Mathew is backing up but Nguyen catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Mathew covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Nguyen Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
