#R1# Lagoo throws a lazy head kick #TD2# so Griffith counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Lagoo wants to get back to his feet but Griffith passes into half guard.
#REVR# Griffith is trying to control the action in half guard but Lagoo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Griffith works his foot free and advances to mount. #SUB2# Griffith working for a submission but Lagoo is keeping him at bay. Griffith lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Griffith looking to control but Lagoo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. #T1# Lagoo is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Griffith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Lagoo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Griffith content just to control the position here. It looks like Griffith might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Lagoo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
#T2# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.#SUB2# Griffith working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Lagoo looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Griffith! Submission of the night perhaps?
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Gattsu Griffith! Gattsu Griffith gave a mention to Threads of HARDCORE in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
