Shamrock throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Shamrock misses with an uppercut.
Salva throws a poor cross that misses
and Shamrock counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Salva lands a nice looking body shot.
Shamrock throws a lazy uppercut
and Salva counters with a head kick. That will keep Shamrock thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
A big right from Salva misses.
Shamrock throwing a counter right hand but Salva manages to avoid it.
Salva looks to score with a jab to the body but Shamrock is just out of range.
Shamrock waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Salva.
Salva works Shamrock's body with a nice hook.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salva throws out a counter right but Shamrock avoids it with no problem.

Shamrock on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Salva lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Salva bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A solid leg kick lands there for Salva.
Shamrock throws an off balance right hand
and Salva connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Salva ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shamrock moves away.

and Salva counters with a straight right hand.
Salva uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shamrock.
Shamrock drops his hands momentarily and Salva takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Shamrock misses with a hook.
Salva slips a jab from Shamrock.
Shamrock takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Salva throws out a loose jab but Shamrock uses good head movement to avoid it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Salva, as that shot connected.
Tim Shamrock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.#T2#
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Salva connects with a solid leg kick.
Salva stuns Shamrock with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Shamrock takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Shamrock swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Salva looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Shamrock is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Salva fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Salva is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Shamrock had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Shamrock is looking to clinch but Salva is avoiding it.
Salva has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Salva drops Shamrock with a naaaaasty hook - Shamrock is in real trouble here! Salva dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Asakura closes the distance and clinches up with Salva, looking for a takedown. Asakura pushes Salva against the cage but Salva circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Salva gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Asakura to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Asakura is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Asakura is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Asakura has hold of Salva's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Salva manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger. #SUB2#
Asakura is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Salva is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Salva flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Asakura anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Salva and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Asakura slips an arm under Salva chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Asakura has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Asakura is squeezing on Salva like an anaconda would it's prey. Salva fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tyson Asakura!

Custer takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Salva motions for Custer to come forward. Salva throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Custer appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Salva slips under a jab from Custer.
Salva tried to counter with a leg kick but Custer avoided it.
Salva swings for the body but Custer moves out of range.
Salva lands with a nice body punch.
Custer changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Salva misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Custer connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Salva walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Custer checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Salva swings away with a leg kick that misses.
A nice side step and Custer releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Custer scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Salva doesn't seem bothered though.
Salva scores with the left hand. Custer knows he should have avoided that one.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to El Salva.
Well Salva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

and Adam counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Adam.
Salva is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Adam.
Salva is trying to maintain a safe position but Adam gets an underhook and turns Salva into the cage.
Salva working hard to break the clinch.

Salva tries to work over Adam's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. #TD2#
Adam jumps guard and drags Salva to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Adam is adopting a defensive guard.

Adam has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Salva should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Adam has tightened it up now! Salva should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
