Rogers tries for a takedown but Byrne manages to get underhooks.
#TD# Byrne pulls guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!#SUB# Rogers avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rogers won't allow Byrne to get back to his feet. Rogers showing good wrestling skills to control the position. #SU2# Byrne is working an open guard so Rogers takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.#T1# Byrne has his takedown stuffed#TD2# and Rogers counters with a takedown into side control. Byrne takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.#SU2# Rogers stands up and we're back to a striking position. #CL# Byrne clinches. #TD# Byrne gets control of Rogers's arms and successfully pulls guard. Byrne will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Rogers is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Rogers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Byrne can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rogers controls the pace.#T2# Byrne looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Byrne knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rogers on the ground. Byrne is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Byrne is trying to keep Rogers in close.
Byrne looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Rogers stands and throws Byrne's legs to the side, diving into side control. Byrne struggling a bit here. Byrne is breathing heavily.#T3# Byrne tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Rogers slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
