#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garces tries for a takedown but Dent sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Dent shoots in for a double leg but Garces sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. No joy there for Dent, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Garces goes for a double leg but Dent avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dent continues to drive forward. Dent half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Dent shoots and misses and Garces counters with a solid body kick. Garces lands a body shot.
#TD# Dent feints and as Garces raises his hands in defense, Dent changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Garces utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. #SUB# Dent drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dent jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Dent has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Garces trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dent is working Garces over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. #SUB# Dent drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dent jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. #SUB2# Garces has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dent can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Garces dives in for a single leg takedown but Mount sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Garces moves forwards but Mount connects with a nice, crisp jab. Mount jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Garces closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Mount lands a jab to Garces's midsection. That kick from Mount tenderised Garces's leg. Garces is trying to keep his angry face on. Mount connects with a jab. Mount cracks Garces with a right hand to the side of the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Garces wants to clinch. A little jabbing left from Mount on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Mount lands with a kick to the ribs.

Oh Garces is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Garces takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Mount throws a right and a left that Garces avoids nicely. Garces seems to have got his legs back now. Mount paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Mount misses with a kick to the body.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Garces might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. Mount scores with a jab to the jaw. Garces is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Mount pulls out of a head kick attempt.
