Luu regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Rummel. Rummel working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Luu's head. Luu working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rummel. Rummel wants to pass the guard but Luu is keeping the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Luu not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Luu pulls Rummel in close to prevent any damage. Rummel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Rummel in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. Son buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A jab from Rummel misses. Rummel tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Rummel throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Son works Rummel's body with a nice hook. Son throws a body punch but Rummel moves out of range. A looping hook to the body misses from Son. Rummel does a little dance to reset his feet. Rummel was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Son uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rummel.
Rummel works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Son rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rummel moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Rummel keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

#R1# Keji looks to throw the jab but Rummel is out of range. Rummel is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Rummel has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. A lazy left from Keji finds it's target. Rummel misses with a right hand and Keji counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Keji lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Rummel throws a poor cross that misses
and Keji counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Rummel misses with a jab to the body
and Keji counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Rummel has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Abdul Keji! Abdul Keji retains his super heavyweight title! A relieved looking Abdul Keji thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |

I was talking to Rummel's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Miller is defending well against a takedown attempt. A head punch blocked on the inside by Miller. #TD2# Miller has picked Rummel up - he's going for a ride! Miller dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Miller looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#T1# Miller trying to control from half guard but Rummel is working away. Rummel has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Miller is working away from the top position though. Rummel wants to improve his position but Miller is controlling well.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
#REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Miller pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. An attempted straight right counter from Rummel misses the target. Rummel digs a good hook to Miller's body.

Rummel drops his hands for a split second and Keji immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Rummel face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Keji follows up with a right hand that knocks Rummel into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!

Rummel looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Rummel takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Rummel misses with a left hand and Silva connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.#CUT2#It looks like Syd Rummel has been cut. Silva's coach down at Dr Hatsumi's Clinic was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Silva's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Rummel gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Silva. Rummel throws out a token jab with nothing on it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

#R1# Chontamenti digs a good body shot into Rebel's ribs. Chontamenti definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. A looping hook to the body misses from Chontamenti. Rebel does a little dance to reset his feet. Rebel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chontamenti. Chontamenti lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rebel circles away quickly and effectively. No joy there for Chontamenti, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And Rebel tries to counter it with a takedown but Chontamenti pushes his down on his head and steps out.#CL# Chontamenti pushes Rebel up against the cage in a clinch. Chontamenti lands with a short shot to the head. Chontamenti lands a right hand. Chontamenti lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Rebel backwards. Rebel is trying to ground and pound but Haden uses the momentary lack of control by Rebel to regain half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rebel perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Haden's coaches at Gunner's School of Combat have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.#T1# Haden is looking to improve his position.

That was a close second round but I would say that ZaDarius Haden will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Haden is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rebel's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rebel's back! Haden avoiding Rebel 's attempts to control his hands. Haden is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Haden connects with a big shot to the side of Rebel's head.

Andre Powell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rebel keeps the fight on the outside. Rebel tries to counter with a takedown but Powell is quick to defend against it. Powell cracks Rebel with an open hand slap.#TD# Rebel closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Powell tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Rebel manages to move to mount!
Rebel pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Powell is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
