#R1# Fernandez closes the distance looking to clinch #TD2# and Furgusen counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Fernandez looks like he's trying to stand up.
Furgusen lands strikes from half guard. Furgusen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Fernandez is pressing down on Furgusen's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Furgusen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Furgusen working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Fernandez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Fernandez is trying to keep Furgusen in close.
Furgusen content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Furgusen working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Furgusen gets to his feet and stands over Fernandez , holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Fernandez felt that one! Furgusen unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Fernandez from any more punishment!
