#R1# Some wild striking there from Van Jean.
Souza tries to counter with a takedown but Van Jean is quick to defend against it. Van Jean misses with a straight left. Van Jean misses with a left hand #CL# and Souza moves into the clinch. Van Jean has had enough of the clinch but Souza keeps him there for the moment. Van Jean can't break the clinch.

Souza manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Van Jean manages to get himself to full guard.
#REVR##SUB2# Souza got a little sloppy there for a moment and Van Jean has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Souza has managed to get both his arms back between Van Jean's legs - danger averted. Souza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Van Jean swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Souza slips nicely into half guard. Van Jean tries to get to full guard but Souza has control of the leg. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Van Jean can do anything to dispel that myth. Souza frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. #T1# Van Jean wants to control but Souza is having none of it.
