Marchant looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.#TD# Excellent takedown into side control there by Marchant. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.#SUB# Marchant goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gilmore has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Marchant but great work by Gilmore. Gilmore working away. Marchant manages to get back to half guard. Marchant wants to sweep but Gilmore has passed to side control! Marchant is trying to escape the position but Gilmore is controlling the position. Marchant can't do much from the bottom here. Marchant tries to bench press Gilmore off him but Gilmore keeps the position. #T1# Marchant seems a little lost for a moment, as Gilmore dominates the positioning.#SUB2# Gilmore tries for a kimura but Marchant is defending well. My spies in Island Sparring inform me that Gilmore has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Marchant tries to reverse the position but Gilmore maintains control. Marchant wants to hold on but Gilmore pushes him away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gilmore controlling from the full mount. Marchant is in all sorts of trouble here.

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway!#TD2# Gilmore changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Illi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.#SUB2# Gilmore is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Illi has escaped the position, nice work there. Gilmore is looking to take a break and control but Illi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Illi is being controlled here. Gilmore tries to move to mount but Illi blocks the move with his legs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB2# Gilmore wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Illi, who protects the arm well. Gilmore advances to full mount. #T1##SUB2# Gilmore is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Illi is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Illi flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Gilmore anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Illi and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Gilmore slips an arm under Illi chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Gilmore has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Gilmore is squeezing on Illi like an anaconda would it's prey. Illi fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Luque works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Luque lands a nice hook to Gilmore's body. Gilmore takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Nice straight punches there by Luque. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Luque. Luque scores with a shot to the body.
Luque with a jab. Luque fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gilmore looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Luque punishes Gilmore's body with a nice straight punch. Gilmore definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Gilmore just misses with a punch to the body.
Luque thinks about the counter body kick. Luque has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. A looping hook to the body misses from Luque. Gilmore does a little dance to reset his feet. Gilmore looks to land a left hand but Luque moved out of range nicely. Gilmore has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Luque finds it's way round the side to connect with Gilmore's head. Luque lands an overhand right. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Luque punishes Gilmore's body with a nice straight punch. A solid body kick from Luque. Luque fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Luque throws a nice inside leg kick. Luque is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Gilmore rather than just go for the knockout.#T1##TD# Gilmore fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Luque to the ground. Gilmore is now in Luque's guard. Gilmore pushes down on Luque's leg and manages to get into half guard. Luque has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gilmore is working away from the top position though.#SUB# Gilmore has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Luque defend it? Gilmore steps over the head and cranks it - Luque is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gilmore!
