#R1# Duarte tries for a takedown but Dao sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Dao attempts a counter takedown but Duarte avoids it well and moves away. Duarte tries to close the distance and clinch but Dao swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Duarte tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dao defends well and Duarte ends up having to push Dao into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.#CL2# Duarte forces Dao back against the cage and clinches.#TD# Dao has clasped his hands together around Duarte's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Dao postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Duarte tries to get back to half guard but can't. Duarte wants to control but Dao postures up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dao moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Dao lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Duarte down.
Dao wants to lay and pray for a moment but Duarte keeps working. #T1# Dao tries to score with some ground and pound. Duarte controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. You can see the frustration on Duarte's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. An elbow from Dao crashes against the mat.
Duarte is trying to improve his position. Duarte struggling a bit here.#SUB# Dao tries for a kimura but Duarte is defending well. The strikes coming from Dao are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Dao looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Duarte is avoiding damage well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Duarte manages to get back to half guard. Duarte is pressing down on Dao's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T2##SUB2# Duarte looking for a guillotine here but Dao defends easily.
Duarte looking for a sweep. Not yet Duarte, not yet. Dao controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Duarte wants to sweep but no luck. Dao with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dao's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Dao cracks Duarte with a solid left hand. Dao postures up and lands a big shot to Duarte's brow. Dao wants to pass the guard but Duarte is keeping the position. Duarte wants to sweep here but Dao controlling him for the moment. #T3# Dao throws a strike but Duarte rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. #REVB# Dao lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.#REVR##SUB2# Duarte working for a triangle but Dao defends it easily.
#SUB2# Duarte looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dao working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Dao throwing strikes from guard but Duarte blocks nicely. Dao lands a couple of elbows. Dao throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. #T4# Duarte keeping moving, preventing Dao from controlling successfully. Dao in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Dao throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Duarte works some decent striking defense from the bottom. #SUB2# Duarte has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Dao is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Duarte. Sloppy strikes there by Dao. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dao scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Duarte to see if he's OK. Duarte can't do much from the bottom here. Dao trying to control the position but Duarte is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ding Dao dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! #R2# Duarte jabbing away but nothing is landing. #TD# Excellent takedown into side control there by Dao. Dao scores with a couple of short elbows. Duarte tries to buck Dao off but Dao is having none of it. Duarte sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Dao wants to pass to mount but Duarte is defending the position. Duarte slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB2# Duarte throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dao escapes and throws Duarte's legs to the side, diving into side control! Duarte manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. #T1# Dao trying to control the action but Duarte is working from the bottom. Ding Dao overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Dao is thwarting Duarte's attempts to control the position. Dao looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Dao working Duarte over with strikes. Dao lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. #ROC# Duarte is rocked! Dao working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Duarte is still in real trouble! Can Dao finish him? Dao sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Duarte defending well though. #SUB2# Duarte is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dao pulls his head out easily. Duarte seems to have recovered his senses. Dao is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Duarte can do to turn this around?#SUB2# Duarte looking for a kimura from the bottom but Dao passes into side control! Dao is working Duarte over with some ground and pound from side control. Duarte takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Dao cracks Duarte with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Dao immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Duarte is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Dao!
